Essay Contest “What are the greatest challenges facing American democracy today and in the future?” All entries must be submitted to Jim Shea at Box 4902 or by swis by October 22. The writer of the winning essay will receive $50 and the right to read his/her essay on VOTES election night.
Display on presidents and politics in school libraries. Display and sale of current political books in school bookstores.
Active campaigning around campus including dormitory whistle stops by campus political groups.

State of the World evening with Chris Kennedy from the CATO Institute, Libertarian party

Fall-semester US History students view the second Presidential debate together with their teachers. Location TBA.
October 8
VOTES special speaker, Ellen McCulloch-Lovell current President of Marlboro College, will be a primary VOTES speaker for school meeting on October 8. Ms. McCulloch-Lovell was Senator Patrick Leahy's chief of staff for ten years prior to becoming an administrator in the Clinton administration where she served as deputy chief of staff to Hillary Clinton among other duties.
